Synopsis:
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian world, society is divided into five factions: Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family or being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are - and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves...or it might destroy her.
Review:
Truth is, I don't really remember any important points or even my own thoughts when I read this book more than a month ago. That was it, I read this book more than a month ago. I marathon the whole trilogy plus the companion book within 4 days and then spending the next week in a book-hangover mode. That should show you how good and bad this whole series was for me.

I had watched the movie before reading the book, thanks to my sister who insisted to watch it even when I said no. I did love the movie. I think it's pretty awesome and definitely action-packed. I don't really understand why I put this book on hold for so long, but I'm very glad when I finally pick it up.

I really enjoy Veronica Roth's writing style. It's not poetic, but very easy to get through. The character development is definitely my favorite part of the book. I just love how Tris turned from being a very weak and confused person into a better version of herself.

There are a lot of questions that I had when I read this book. But since it's the first book in a trilogy, I didn't think it through. I just assume that the answer to my questions will appear in book 2 or 3. And they did, so it's good enough for me.

And now I don't really know what to say anymore. It's a good book. It's a good, action-packed book. And that's why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
